Hopefully it's a good (and stable) as it appears. Primarily the work of HL2 uberfan Filip Victor, Update has also picked up sponsorship from the likes NVIDIA and EVGA. Retains the iconic Half-Life 2 visual style and gameplay. Here's the full list of wot it does, too:Ĭomplete lighting overhaul including enhanced lighting, more detailed world shadows, and full High Dynamic Range Lighting (HDR).Ĭountless bug fixes, correcting both visual and game-based issues.Īn extensive Community Commentary Mode featuring the voices of well-known Youtubers, including Caddicarus, Brutalmoose, Ricepirate, Balrog the Master, ProJared, and Ross Scott from Freeman's Mind. I guess it's putting HL2 back in line with how we felt it looked at the time, making it so our over-entitled 2015 eyes will be less troubled by signs of ageing. So I haven't installed "Various Fixes" on my setup.Very nice, though we're talking subtle nip'n'tuck changes which (hopefully) broadly preserve the original artistic intentions, rather than slap-you-round-the-face stuff, which to my mind is preferable to some of the more aggressive visual overhauls out there. Don't like this specific collection that much anyway. Like a skybox glitch, which it should fix, but with is already fixed in HL2:Update, so things get messed up. PS: "Various Fixes and Improvements" sadly breaks some things in HL2: Update. Mat_max_worldmesh_vertices 128000 (128-thousand)

(Note: If you play HL2 vanilla you can replace/apply other files from this archive.)

Which got broken with steampipe update in 2013/2014.

Replace these files with client.dll and server.dll in folder "bin" from the "hl2/bin_custom" folder from the hl2fix.7z! This will get G-Man in the intro and all NPCs blinking back again. Delete contents of this bin folder (should be only client.dll and server.dll, if not, you're in the wrong folder!). Make a backup of the "bin" folder in Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life 2 Update\hl2\bin. In the file hl2fix.7z extract/go to folder Half-Life 2\hl2\bin_custom\Įxtract ONLY client.dll and server.dll.
